A gift from my vets....

Postby fergusnc » Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:37 pm

It came with a card signed by everyone, but I found out later that one of the vet techs made it for me. Painted it to match my barn. And said it was so "Fergus' heart would always be with us". When I texted my vet to thank her, and she told me those added details, it was so bittersweet. People can be so kind.
I plan to hang it on his stall front. There is a high likelihood that stall will never be used again...I haven't been in it since he's left...it will always be his "birthing stall"....we built a gigantic one just for him when we reconfigured the barn. For now, it's back to being a squirrel nursery, as Fergus' roommate has come back to have her spring litter. If anyone else ever moves in, name plates can be added, but the heart will always remain.

Oh, that is so sweet. A wonderful memorial to Fergus.

People are kind. We all understand your grief, and your love. Hugs.

What a lovely thing for the vet tech to do.

What a lovely gesture! They thought highly of you and Fergus.

That is so kind and thoughtful of them. I am sure you were hysterically crying once again with that gift. It's ok. He was worth the tears.

Thanks everyone, for letting me share.

Hayburner, Ferg was definitely a favorite. Actually, pretty much anyone who spent any time with him fell for him. Just a cool, cool guy. And he knew it, which actually added to the coolness. 8-)

Leo, actually not at all. Just a smile. Until I was able to hang it on his stall front this past Sunday evening. I had a good bawl during and after that job. And then the next morning when I fed breakfast. At this point I just touch it at least once per barn visit, say hi, and try to smile at his awesomeness. I don't doubt it will trigger a good cry here and there in the future.

Here it is on his stall front.
