Cardiac ablation

I’ve had Supraventricular tachycardia for decades. A few fast beats, then normal heart rate. It has progressed since December though. I’ve been to the ED 5 times since December, 3 times in the last 2 weeks, and twice in the last 24 hours. I’ve had chemical conversion the last 3 times. I saw the electrophysiologist after the first conversion and scheduled an ablation for October. The ablation has now been moved to next week…..

I’m not afraid of the procedure. I have highest regards for the EP. Hopkins med school, Harvard/Mass General residency, Cleveland Clinic fellowship. Excellent library user. I’m scared for between now and the procedure. I just want to curl up in a ball on the couch and not move. I’m not riding this week (Miss A owied her eye and it’s healing, and this weekend temps will be in the 90s and humid). My instructor starts chemo the 22nd, my BIL is having deep brain stimulation September 8, and his sister was just diagnosed with cancer. I feel like my group is cursed.

Please hold space in your hearts for me and my family and friends. We need all the prayers, white light, good thoughts, jingles, etc that we can get.

You got it. Jingles coming your way.
I would definitely stay in and out of the heat. It is so demanding on our organs. I am so over our heat but nay…more 100’s next week.

Take it easy.

That's no fun, Paula! My aunt had an ablation 10 years ago and hasn't had any further SVT events. I'm still having a bunch ... always at night while I'm trying to sleep, or early morning while I'm running. It rectifies fairly quickly when I've been running, so I never bother going to the ER then.

Jingles and bubble wrap for all of you <3

Jingles and positive thoughts for everyone in your circle. My BIL had an ablation and it seemed to work for him. Stay positive and calm and when you feel ready, please check in here again so we can hear how much better you feel!

I’m fine, a little anxious. My driver to the hospital backed out on me tonight so I had to do some emergency calling. I have another ride lined up. A friend is taking me home and spending the night. She has never met Miss A so if I feel up to it we will visit her the day after. I will keep y’all updated.

The ablation is in October? Isn't that a long wait?

Wednesday at 11 am. RyeI will PM after the procedure. I’m most curious as to how long before I can resume normal activity. I’m guessing riding will be a few weeks simply because of the incision placement.

Jingles!

I know it has to be scary, keep your mind occupied with other things the best you can.

Your driver backing out sucks, glad you got that fixed on short notice.

Good luck! :)

Ablation was successful. I am home and in bed. The worst part was lying flat on my back without moving for 3 hours. I couldn’t even lift my head. But that’s all behind me. The NP said I could ride in a week but I’m not going to. Thanks for all your good thoughts,,prayers, etc.

I’m feeling almost normal today. I visited Ariel yesterday and gave her a quick groom before my instructor did a training ride. I’m not riding til the weekend, maybe. It’s so nice not to worry about my heart beating 150 bpm……

Got the EOB yesterday. $103,000. Gulp. Medicare covered the whole thing.

I stand corrected. The hospital charged $103k but accepted the Medicare assignment of $20k. So insane.

Oh yeah…Medicare isn’t paying 103K. Our healthcare is so effed up.

So glad the ablation worked.
