Can we talk about sox?

Postby OmegaMare » Sun Dec 06, 2015 7:06 pm

I have just discovered snowboarder socks. I challenge anyone to slide into a pair without uttering a moan of pleasure. They are padded on the bottom and snug on the instep. The toes are tapered just like my feet. There is an L on one and an R on the other, so I know which one goes where. They come up to my knees. They are warm and soft and come in a range of colours, from modern to outlandish. The also have padding on the shins, so even my rubber boots become comfortable, which is fortunate as we are in the midst of torrential downpours and there is water water everywhere.

Thank you, Snowboarders.

I think that good socks are so worth the $$$! My attitude toward cold weather changed when my sister introduced me to SmartWool socks. Actually, any sock with good merino wool is wonderful. And I am someone who normally cannot tolerate wool against my skin.

Bonus points if I can find them for only $$ on a site like Sierra Trading Post!

I really need some warm socks for the house. I don't like wearing shoes inside, but none of my socks are warm enough and I always have cold feet. I even have some Smartwool socks and they aren't any warmer than a pair of cotton ankle socks.

I love my Acorn polarfleece socks, super warm, and last well. For sinfully soft socks, I got some cashmere socks at nordies last year, love them too, but they're not wearing as well.

I read the title as "can we talk about sex?" LOL. I always wore SmartWools at the barn. Daily wearing is Hanes crew sox from WalMart. I have one pair of cashmere sox (I think) but they are/were too squooshy.

I confess that I never found a pair of sox to keep my feet warm at the barn, even with wearing boots lined with Gortex, etc.

I love my Alpaca socks, super soft and warm. They keep my feet toasty warm, but they never get sweaty. I hate taking them off when I get home. They are so comfortable.

After staring at this for two days, with not ONE person misbehaving i'm not sure if we're just all holiday-ed out or what or maybe i'm the only one but ... socks was not what i expected when i opened this thread. Trucks, yes, socks, no.

I should really slow down reading, i suppose.

Snork, I expected the same as you. Maybe I could have set it up better, and stopped at the "moan of pleasure". Or maybe trucks are just innately sexier than sox. :) I will work harder on my next thread.

Plus there's an argument to be made that trucks are phallic, whereas sox ... not so much.
