RIP Alan Rickman

Postby PaulaO » Thu Jan 14, 2016 2:37 pm

Actor Alan Rickman, best known for his role as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, died at age 69 from cancer. He was such a versatile actor, playing everything from Shakespeare to Hans Gruber in Die Hard.

I just got over David Bowie, now this. Truly saddened by this loss.

Very sad indeed. He played Snape perfectly.

Ditto to everyone above. So sad, one of my favorite actors. Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, Harry Potter, so many roles he captured and shared with us. Will miss him.

I was thinking this as well. I just happened to watch Love Actually not too long ago as well.

We always do a HP marathon over Christmas break, so just spent lots of time with Professor Snape. It's so shocking to hear...way too young. :(

He was a great villain in "Quigley Down Under". I was thinking today he and Tom Selleck must have had a blast making that movie.

The Sheriff of Nottingham to end all Sheriffs is how I shall always remember him.

Oh, damn :( That's very sad.

Rickman has always been one of my favorite actors. He played great villains but I also enjoyed seeing him in Dogma, Galaxy Quest, Sense and Sensibility... and so many other movies, indy or blockbuster.

My favorite Rickman movie and my favorite movie overall (top 3) is "Truly Madly Deeply". Loved him in that. RIP.
