This was something we kicked around doing with Splash when I first got him and after trying every gut enhancing and/or soothing thing that comes in a bag bucket or packet to no avail, and I took him to UCD. Dr Purstela (Chief of Medicine) was less concerned than I was, and said "Feed him some beet pulp." Problem solved. He gets some beet pulp everyday and has the beautiful white tail he was meant to. I felt like I took my 3rd grade creative writing assignment to a Noble Laureate in literature for proof reading, but I was grateful the solve was so simple, and so affordable.

Haha no. DH came up with Splash, I think because of the splashes of color? I dunno. Maybe because between when I'd decided to buy him and when we did the PPE, his breeder took him to the ocean, and ponied him on off one of the big Shire geldings, and "got him in deep enough that the water was over his back, so he's a little cleaner!"

A (human) friend of ours had a fecal transplant last year. He's a 2x liver transplant recipient who also has Crohn's dz. Not sure what the fecal procedure was for, but likely related to his CD. In his case he was tubed through his doot
You can imagine the jokes and quips about that one! Awesome guy, a real trooper.
