Strangles immunization reaction

Postby PaulaO » Sat May 30, 2020 6:03 pm

I know I am overreacting and need the collective wisdom to tell me so. Miss A. had the intranasal strangles vaccine yesterday. Today she is bit mopey and just standing in the field. She didn’t want to graze. Her temp is 100.8 (this is the first time I’ve taken her temp so don’t know what baseline normal is). I know it’s a reaction to the vaccine and she will be fine. Tell me to stop worrying.

Stop worrying.

I suspect all will be well. It does show you though, as you say, its a good idea to have a temp baseline.

Maybe an Equioxx just to make her less achey..?

I believe the intranasal vaccine is a live virus, I could be wrong though.

Probably no different than other times some horses can get a bit of a reaction from shots.

It is a live vaccine. She's fine. Now I get to worry about the weather being hot. It's 85.......
