rolled bridles

I am looking at the Passier Neptune and the Otto Schumacher Munich.

I'm curious, is no one responding because you have no preference of maker for rolled bridles or because you don't actually like rolled bridles?

I was considering one for Cartier because he does have a refined head, for his size.

I think rolled bridles are lovely but...they have less room for adjustment, usually over the crown piece. So, if it fits well within that adjustment, great. If you have a horse with odd sizing issues, then you are limited.

FWIW, the few rolled bridles I have owned stretched like crazy. But, none of them were high dollar items.

I have two issues with rolled bridles - the ones I have seen have buckles at the poll and they are not that adjustable. The other is that I have seen horses get sore at the poll where the buckles go.

They are very pretty, though.

Good to know. Honestly, I've never had one but Cartier has had one before, in Germany.

I think rolled bridles are beautiful on small/dainty faces. Cartier's is bolder so the bridle almost gets "lost" on him to me.

He wears a cob size, which is funny since he is just shy of 17 hands.

On my browband thread earlier in the year, some had commented that his current bridle was too chunky for him. That is what got me thinking of it in the first place.

It is not. The cheek pieces are more streamlined than those on his current bridle, so I think it should look a bit more elegant. We'll see!

One more comment on this thread - I find myself scrutinizing everything more closely on him than my previous horses. I think it's because he is grey. As someone mentioned on the browband thread, there is the "contrast" to consider. The black leather stands out so much from his face that if it is too fine or too chunky, it is really obvious.

The new bridle came while I was away and I only got to see it in person today. I am bummed because there is a defect in the leather. It looks like a cut or a split.
