Bridle sizing

Postby PaulaO » Wed Aug 10, 2016 1:17 pm

Am looking to by a flat bridle (I know, I know) but am unsure what size. Ariel is a TB mare, about 15.1, rather fine head. I'm wondering if a cob size would fit her better than a full. Also, what is the color difference between havana and oakbark?

Probably cob, but the only way to know is take measurements, since bridle brands vary. My appy mare was 15.1 and kind of in between cob and full in most brands. Havana is dark brown and oakbark is light brown, but will usually oil darker if you want it to.

FWIW, I like the look of flat bridles.
Keep calm and canter on.

The problem might be the cheek pieces. I find that refined heads and narrow side to side but the length can be too short on a cob. As far as colors, each company seems to have their own idea of havana or oakbark and uses different or similar names but the colors are not always the same. We have bridles in "oakbark" that are reddish brown but another company might call their bridle oakbark and have more of a brown with no red and more yellow tones.
