ISO Brown Cob Double Bridle

Virtual tack shoppers, I need your help.

I'm looking for a brown double bridle for my GRP mare, who has a cob (or maybe slightly smaller) face. Right now she's in a Jerry's Harness snaffle bridle which I love, but unfortunately for me they've closed up their shop.

Parameters:
- Brown
- Cob
- Under $400 preferred. Under $300 very preferred, but looks unlikely given some quick shopping around Smartpak/Dover/Dressage Extensions
- Prefer crank over french noseband but can be flexible for the right bridle.
- Bonus points for personal reviews of quality of the bridle. I tend to keep my bridles for a long time, so want this purchase to last 10+ years.

Send me some links!

Any feedback on Bobby's leather quality?

How about Delfina? http://www.delfinasaddlery.com/Bridles- ... -p228.html

Never having felt one, I'm a bit hesitant to order.

Additionally, I'm spoiled by my current bridle. Has everything I love and more.

Dressage Extensions has the Royal Oak (used to be made by Jerry's) Weymouth in brown cob for $150 :o , but the brow band and cavesson are white/gold or white/silver lined. I bought this bridle in black many years ago; it is nice quality, but the cavesson and browband are flat, not padded - if that matters.

Me - I'd buy a brown bradoon hanger and add it to the snaffle bridle.

Good eyes, Canyon! Last time I looked at DressageExtensions, the (now-discounted) Royal Oak weymouth was still $300+, so I wasn't willing to compromise on the padding and French caveson options.

Now a) there's an option I know fits Kiwi, and b) that it's SO CHEAP-- well, dressage-standards-wise; this basically means my double's bits are "free", according to my revisionist math-- how can I not buy it?

Will post an update after it gets here. Thanks!

I've had 3 Bobbys bridles, all have been quite nice. I still have all of them and at least one is over 10 years old. I consider them to be above average leather quality for the money and well made. I have "heard", but don't know for a fact, that there are two levels of Bobbys leather quality, one quite good the other mediocre. Most of the Bobbys tack I have seen and felt (my local tack store carried a lot of it for several years) was good quality mid price range $150 to $300 for bridles.

I was also going to suggest bobbys. I gave a double for my Arab that is very thin for a more refined head. Quality is very good for price imo.

My bridle showed up yesterday! So I took Kiwi on a nice long trail ride for her debut double bridle day. I think it looks pretty cute on her (left):

Love the photo. It is so adorable how she is towering over her bud. Personally, I am a fan of the white edged bridles and wish more were still available. It looks super smart on a dark horse like Kiwi!

I love white padding! Only downside is that it highlights poor tack cleaning, but other than that it looks super on horses that have minimal white on their faces. I know from experience from having made the wrong bridle padding choices in the past.

Don't judge me.

Kiwi looks super cute in her new bridle. When did Jerry's close the shop? Waaah!

According to Jerry's Harness Shop Facebook page the shop closed 5/31/17. I'm sad, also  .

Snork and Canyon-- agreed. I was ready to buy another bridle from them only to realize they'd closed their doors 4 weeks previously. Bereft.

FWIW, I just received an email from Dressage Extensions - $25 off all bridles with code BRI25, through 7/27.

Just in case anyone needs a nudge from an enabler :) .
