Half-chaps

Postby PaulaO » Thu Aug 17, 2017 1:58 pm

I'm thinking about upgrading my suede half-chaps to a leather pair. I have a 15 inch circumference stubby calf (16 inches from the floor to the back of my knee). Tredsteps come in actual sizes. I could order 15/16. Ariats and other brands come in S,M.L, etc.

Any preferences/recommendations?

Pro Chaps! They are made in Canada - super comfy and hold up well. I happened to find a deal on a pair that were the perfect size for me, but I'd pay full price to get another set should these ever wear out (not likely as I've switched to tall boots now). https://www.prochaps.com/
Keep calm and canter on.

I love the Ariat leather half chaps, although my pairs were bought several years ago. If their quality is the same now as when I bought mine, they last a long time, IMHO.

I just bought a pair of the Ariat Breeze half chaps and love them. They may be my favorite pair yet.

Love my Sergio Grasso, look like 'real boots' and last well.

I have a pair of Cavallo half chaps that look like boots. Very sturdy and neat looking.

I have a pair of Tredsteps [short, thin-ish legs here] and I LOVE them... they look like nice tall boots, and have held up well through the years.

Ariats come in sizes as well- you'd be a "medium - short".

I use the Ariat Classic half chap, I really like them and so as a creature of habit I stick with them. I think they might last forever.. I've had a couple of other pairs, the first pair I lost when I stopped riding for a few years and the second pair are still fine they're just too big for me now since I lost a bunch of weight. The sizing seems to be a bit different than it used to be though. My first pair was a large and that was when I was young and thinnish and now I have a medium but I'm slightly larger than I once was. They do stretch a fair bit.

Another vote for the tredsteps.
I need 14/14 (could probably get away with 15 height) and they are the only place that has these weird sizes.
I have had 2 pair in 10 years. They are worth the money.

Ariat does not make enough size choices.
