Help me find the impossible tall boots

Postby FlyingLily » Thu Oct 29, 2015 7:02 pm

My dream tall boot is:

1. Brown

2. Available in wide foot

3. Actually for riding in, as opposed to the ones flooding Google that are for "fashion"

and this is the hardest:

4. They can't have pointy toes because post-surgery my left big toe wings to the right.

Help! Much appreciated.

Does your dream have an upper price limit?

You could go to a dealer for Dehner Boots and get measured for a custom dress or polo boot; both are available in brown. It sounds like they do a tracing of your feet as part of the customization.

Another thought - contact Kitty B at www.germantack.com and see if she could suggest a Petrie boot that would work. I know you can customize Petries in many ways.

She is in Germany, but I remember people being pretty happy with her service.

Thank you so much Canyon!

Now I realize I must existentially search for how much $$ this dream should equal.

Hmm. Lovely options!!!!

I think Mountain Horse has some nice ones now but only in field boot (haven't checked for some time though)

Mountain Horse was my first thought. They don't offer a true wide foot, but the footbed is wider than average, and it has a round toe. The Dublin Aeros is similar, and also available in brown. How wide do you need - a true D width, or just not as skinny as some boots run?

I feel your pain, I also need a "square toe" and size 11 boot. Check out Ariat. I have the Volante which is very comfortable but it only comes in black. BUT……..they have…..

Challenge Contour Square Toe Zip just under $400.00 brown

and the Heritage Contour $289.95 brown

When I was doing my "months" long research into buying my boots and trying to try on boots…I am sure you understand you go to a Tack Store and ask for size 11 boots and the sales folks look at you with pity in their eyes…no size 11 here. Dover Saddlery was great, I would call ahead and they would ship different boots for me to try on to the store. AND I called Ariat just to talk about the "toe box", the Volante and the V Sport (the two I narrowed it down to) they told me were the same "toe Box"; they felt different to me and the person did look again and said the V Sport has a micro layer inside also, which was just enough for me to know that was not the boot for me and explained why it felt a tad snug. I think (but do not know if this is fact) that the Volante may have the widest toe box. Ask if the Challenge or Heritage have the toe box …maybe their toe box is even larger.

Give them a call…

Van Huet riding boots in Holland does a custom Petrie . The polo boots I liked are about $400 USD in brown. They're Petries, I don't think they are that pointy but YMMV. I have foot pain and it is truly miserable in every regard.

They also come in Cognac. :)

When womens sneakers became too narrow, I switched to mens sizes. Would that be an option?

I have ultra wide feet and Petries fit me very well.
