Rudy needs a new bridle

Postby Sue B » Fri Oct 05, 2018 4:50 pm

So, I'm using retail therapy to ease my no-riding frustration and considering buying this bridle for Rudy. He was being a twit one day, took off while being bridled and tore the headstall of his current KL Select bridle. I repaired it with electrical tape, but I should really get him a new one if I'm ever going to show him again. What do you guys think?

I don't know what I think about the newly shaped bridles, but the flash on that one looks more secure. When I've tried to use a flash noseband, I found I had to have the cavesson quite tight otherwise it was pulled down by the flash, but that looks better designed and not as likely to.

I like the design, but I think I read either here or on CotH about some disappointment with quality of RedBarn bridles recently. It looks a lot like the Schockemole Equitus Alpha, but I've heard about quality problems with that brand too. Prestige makes one of a similar design, but it has sort of funky angular nose and browband that you probably either love or hate.
Keep calm and canter on.

SO what Rudy likes about his old KL Select/Red Barn is the padding, what I like is the quality of the leather. Anyone have any ideas where I might find that combination? He does not need a flash, has a very refined, TB face and wheres a cob. Don't care about the brow band because Sunshine2me (I think) made me a beautiful one. I like the idea of the cavesson curving away from the corner of the mouth--looks like it might be more comfy?

Not sure if you want to spend that much, but Centerline Style had a really nice-looking Stubben with a shaped noseband. It had a refined look that would be nice on his face, and the leather quality should be good. They often have 20% off codes available if you sign up for their emails.
Keep calm and canter on.

I bought a Red Barn on sale from Smartpak and it was terrible leather--so I returned it. Yet I have Red Barn reins that are wonderful. I just ordered a new Passier bridle. Will report back after it arrives.

The Stubben bridle was beautiful. I may raid my can recycling jar for it. Very tempting.

I always forget, but Stubben also has a sale section on their website, which includes bridles. There are several handsome ones there currently for less than $150, including the 1800.

AND ALSO, you have to call to order, but then they tell you that they have all kinds of things on sale that they haven't put up on their website yet. WARNING! DANGER!

No, I haven't decided yet, but I think I'm calling Stubben after what Beorn said.

ETA: DH wants to buy a new old tractor. I told him "okay" so long as I can have a new bridle. Hehe

I just bought a used Ovation bridle off eBay to use with my jumping saddle. It's actually surprisingly nice quality. If only I'd been paying more attention and noticed that it is full, not cob (seller was selling several cob bridles). So it will fit Tesla, rather than Annabelle. I'd say their full runs a little small.

I received my Passier "Blu" snaffle bridle and I quite like it! It does not run large, though (I got a full--luckily).

So, I ordered a bridle from Stubben but, I'm not sure what I paid for it and not exactly sure which one I ordered. Lol

Okay, so I think I got the 2017 Conversion cavesson Bridle form Stubben for only 150 bucks or so. It arrived last week after spending a few days at our neighbor's house. beautiful bridle, very padded and soft. So far Rudy seems to like it. I'll get pictures soon.

I'd love to see it! I am finally convinced that the Passier Blu bridle I got is a fine fit for Em. I'll try to share photos on this thread.

Rudy in his new bridle, which has very nice quality leather and super soft padding btw. Cob size is truly cob, so don't order it unless your horse has a short, delicate TB head like Rudy.
