Lunge line recommendations

Postby PaulaO » Sun Feb 17, 2019 4:28 pm

I need a lunge line, nothing fancy. I don’t like donut ends, and obviously no chains. Any recommendations or am I overthinking? Is the standard length 35 feet? I like cotton web as opposed to polyester.

Back at the barn I practically grew up in the barn owner had these really thick but really soft cotton ones somewhat like this https://www.statelinetack.com/item/toug ... SLT901698/ but without the bull snap (or bright colors). I absolutely loved them and have never found ones like them again. That's probably the closest I've seen and of course I don't know how it actually feels so I'm not sure if it's the same or just looks like it and it has the stopper at the end which I think is what you don't like. I wouldn't want one of the ones that is more like a really long lead rope as I feel like it would be too heavy and difficult to manage.

They're inexpensive enough though that if you get one you don't like you can just file that away as what you don't like and get a different one.

If you find a line you like, you can cut through those donuts pretty quickly with a sharp box cutter.

I’m very picky about my lunge line, and I have the same requirements you do. I found my favorite here:

I'm going to get a couple of these. The snaps are removable which I like. I attached slobber straps with buckles to my current lunge lines because I don't like a lot of hardware jangling around when lunging off the top ring of a lunge caveson.

Keep calm and canter on.

I ordered the line recommended by fatcat. Love it. Just what I was looking for.
