What is the trick to removing a halter plate?

Postby onetrickpony » Wed Oct 14, 2015 1:11 pm

When the Chicago screws just spin around and around? I've tried grabbing the back side with pliers, but there isn't enough room to get a good grip. I'm at a loss here.

Could you perhaps wind a rubberband around the "top" piece of the screw to help hold it in place while you back the screw out?
Keep calm and canter on.

I will warn you that my DH often puts a dab of Superglue in these when he does them up for me so they don't come undone...

This one came preinstalled on a halter that I purchased from SmartPak. Still new, never been on a horse. I'm tempted to send it back and say "You get it off!!"

What about the ones that are not with chicago screws, rather with rivets? How do you get THOSE off??

(And you should send it back!!)

I have used a dremel tool with a cut off wheel but you need to be careful about the leather.
