antique bit

Postby Melody » Sat Apr 02, 2016 5:03 pm

Had our hay guy stop by last night. He had a box of unusual bits he got from a neighbor. One I think is a western Myler, still checking that out for him. This one I am putting the picture up on is old. Probably one of a kind. Anyone ever see anything like this before? Is there a site for antique bits I could post it on? Like a trash or treasure for tack?

That is a mouthful of a bit!

It looks like a vaquero or spade bit to me.

The mouth piece was something to see in person. The port part was kind of sharp. Is also bent somehow. I kept thinking what poor animal had to wear it. I checked out ebay for antique bits. There were some that were real scary looking. Nothing that looked remotely like this bit though.
