My Lesson of the Month
My Lesson of the Month
Is that I should hesitate less! I've been casually toying with the idea of buying my own horse as I'm in a position where it would be feasible financially and otherwise, but just casually so if I see a horse that seems incredibly perfect for me I'll contact otherwise I just keep looking, no maybes. I saw a horse a couple of weeks ago that sounded just perfect for me so I contacted, but then I hesitated and now he's sold Based on the disappointment I'm feeling over this maybe I am really ready and should start looking less casually.
Re: My Lesson of the Month
That is a bummer, but it is nice to be able to learn something from it! It also might also serve as a lesson for Rule #1 of horse buying......there is ALWAYS another horse out there. ALWAYS. So don't be too bummed.
And horse shopping can be fun! And by fun, I mean very stressful. But usually the result is worth it. Good luck!

I agree with Kelo! That one didn't work out because the horse you are SUPPOSED to buy is still out there! Have fun in your search!

I had that happen to me a couple times.
Both times, those horses ended up with lameness problems down the line, and I was secretly relieved.
NOT that the horse I subsequently bought was lameness-free, mind you!

I feel the same way--I am in place to own again and am casually, very casually, looking. Like if a perfect horse dropped into my lap. The thing is, I believe there is always another horse for you (or me). So don't be downhearted.

well, the disappointment is definitely a compass for your desires, so that is good. Good luck with finding the right horse

Umm, so when do we get to start helping you shop?
Keep calm and canter on.

I'm also casually looking and appreciate all the comments here. Very wise and good advice. I think we should tap into the DDBB and ask for help in shopping!
The calmer I am, the stronger I am.

Thanks everyone, I know realistically there will be another horse out there for me but it does help to hear it.
Perhaps there will be a VHS thread coming soon! Thinking about it more I will be incredibly picky though, I want a horse that will be with me for a long long time so that means getting the right one.
