Spotty dressage horse goes derby jump training (pics)
Spotty dressage horse goes derby jump training (pics)
We had a derby jump training clinic yesterday. I held my breath through most of it, but Odin jumped like a MACHINE. He was a complete rock star, I just had to hold on and steer

Fun! I hope I get a chance to do something like that at least once more, while I can still throw a leg over.

Holy cow, that third jump looks scary! I love how he's being SO tidy and careful with his front legs in the 4th one! Nice! I haven't jumped for ages (I used to do the hunters) but when I watch them schooling where I board, I want to play in that sandbox again!

I would say fun, but since I'm a giant chicken I think I'll go with scary instead. Very handsome spotty dressage horse you have there

I always enjoy your posts - he just looks like such a neat horse (I used to have Appies, but I'm not *that* biased), and you guys are a great pair!

You both look happy and in the last picture he looks very pleased with himself to me!
Great job you.

Thanks everyone! I'm a huge scaredy cat. I'm at a jumper yard though, so to overcome some riding-related fear I joined the jumping crew for weekly lessons. It really really helps. An enthusiastic canter lengthen in the dressage arena is a lot easier to deal with suddenly
It also helps that Odin is so enthusiastic about jumping. He's actually bred for that, rather than dressage.
