Socrates is home

Postby clanter » Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:18 pm

Last week wife and daughter made a mad dash to North Dakota to pick the new guy. They got him last Saturday before the snow came in that day getting away before being trapped (a real Blizzard hit Wednesday). They got to Wichita KS where they had prearranged a 24 hour layover (which the lad was glade of, he had never been on a trailer before).

We have a camera system in the trailer, he rode without issue. He would grab some hay they move back to look out the widows to watch the traffic and the countryside.

He reloaded without a problem (other than spooking at the bare ground as he had been on snow for the last five months)

Prairie Hill Socrates ... old style Morgan, nine months old

I've been following your Socrates saga on COTH. I'm so glad you got him home before that bomb cyclone hit the Great Plains! I look forward to lots of pictures and updates!

he is an interesting youngster, he is very level headed about the changes... I was expecting him to turn his nose up at city water we even brought some of "his" water with us just in case, but he never expressed any distaste

He was bedded on straw, we got him converted to shavings which he thought was snow

So cute, and sounds like he has a good brain too. Glad everyone made it home safely!
Keep calm and canter on.

He turn 10 months old over the weekend, we measured him today.... 13.0 H ... weight taped at 590 pounds.

All the photos I have taken lately the files are too large to post here but he has been body clipped as its been as hot as 82F here, he was used to 0F and below so we needed to get the winter coat off. He stood like a saint in the cross ties to be body clipped, did not protest just stood as commanded. He wears a blanket without attempting to tear it off.

We had our vet out to get baselines and the vet said all is well

He is spending his days in the round pen which the other horses can come up to, so they are interacting...the mares are in Love.

He has a really intelligent look about him! Cute as a button, too.

If you right click on a photo (or look in the toolbar at top), under the edit function, you will often get an option for resize. (cuz we need these pics!)
