Still in the hospital- cancer and infection not playing nice with her diabetes. Thought she may not make it Friday but she pulled through.

Godspeed Bailey. There are 2 other beagles (Peanut and Turbo) waiting on the other side of the bridge.

I am so sorry Rye. I all too well know that feeling.

yeah, it sucks. I don't have kids and this was like my little baby girl. She was a trooper through her diabetes starting at age 3.
I am experiencing a lot of anxiety now at her loss. it's a total change in identity and role. I had to do so much for her all these years.
I am glad I could work remotely this last year with her and she would pile toys under my chair as I worked. She wasn't expected to pass away right now, we did not know the cancer was that bad.

I do need to get a new job this year so then I will call on the powers that be here to do some virtual FIND RYE A BEAGLE BABY GIRL thread....! I need to know the schedule and all that before I move ahead with a new dog. Just as when Ryeissa died in 2011 I knew I wanted a horse, I have the same feeling now with a dog.

You have all my sympathy. I know exactly how it is. I lost my companion of 15 years on the same day you did. I can’t stop tearing up when I think of it. I am lucky in that her issue was age and orthopedic issues not a horrible disease. Hang in there.

I don’t know if you remember, but I lost my girl of 13 years almost exactly a year ago.
I still miss her every day. It took weeks for me to stop suddenly crying when I thought of her... It took me months to stop looking for her. She was with me through so much, and she always looked out for me. I had my very talented friend paint a portrait of her that I finally just received and plan to hang over my rocking chair in the living room so she can continue to “watch over” the family.
Somehow having this brings me a kind of peace.
It might be too soon to think about it, but maybe you could do something similar in remembrance of your girl?
They really do become our family, and we mourn them when they’re gone.
Big hugs.
