MacRider Saddles

Postby Hayburner » Mon Sep 09, 2019 10:49 pm

Anyone try or own on of these?

Since Schleese won't come to the barn I'm at and I won't trailer to where they do fittings in my state I'm still searching for something for a PRE.

I can't find a lot of reviews when I google search.

I have seen a few on eBay and they look lovely and comfy.

I like a nice deep secure seat and my mare I see not super short backed. My Wintec Isabell is still working for her, but I want an upgrade.

Thanks

I've seen some in person and they are very beautiful! (lots of custom options if you like bling) I have no idea how they feel, though. I think they are pretty pricey compared to other quality saddles.

Do you have a good saddle shop somewhere in your area where you can at least sit in bunch of brands? That might help a little.

I also had a friend use an online consultant who was surprising good for helping her find a saddle to fit her Spanish Norman mare. Here is the link to that business (plus some helpful articles): https://www.thesaddlegeek.com/

Thanks Peidmont, as usual you are a wealth of info!

Unfortunately, I do not have a saddle shop nearby with Saddles to sit and get a feel for.

2 local reps that I know of, 1 is a custom sadderly rep and the other an Albion rep. The Albion rep is coming at the end of the month for me to try a few Saddles that she has on her truck. I doubt she'll have a MacRider.

I appreciate the link and will check it out!

I ran in to my old trainer and told her I was looking for a new saddle and she said: why? Your saddle fits you nicely. She was referring to my Wintec Isabell. Even the bodyworker said her back is great. I'll probably buy a new expensive saddle and it will cause her back pain!

You are so right that if you and your mare are happy, and your saddle is sound, changing may not be the best idea! :D :D

Do realize that many, many saddle companies will send you a trial saddle---they just want your CC info on file in case they do not receive the saddle back within the trial period. When I was shopping earlier this year, Albion SLKs were one suggestion for my Iberian-style mare. Might ask what they plan to have available when they come.

i tried a MacRider a bit back and really liked the saddle. However, it wasn't quite the right fit for MM. They're supposed to be super adjustable, so I reached out through the website to try to find a rep. Much to my disappointment, despite the website saying they had reps in my state, the contact email address was not only quite rude and unhelpful, but they told me that unless I was in FL there was no one to fit to the saddle. I checked with some independent fitters and they said that they were not able to adjust it.

Ultimately, I sent the saddle back because it seemed like keepign the saddle fitted correctly was going ot be a hassle!

Blob. Thanks for your input. I too read how fully adjustable they were, very secure and comfy that's what peaked my interest.

So that's Why I contacted them, they gave me a person in FL, so I didn't contact them until I could find some reviews on the Saddles. Very few reviews,so I posted here .

If they can't be adjusted by local fitters and they don't have fitters that are strategically located in the states that would be a turn off for me too.

They look like beautiful comfy Saddles, I spoke to a seller on eBay who even tho her saddle wasn't the size I needed confirmed how secure and comfy tht are.

I don't understand these manufacturers some just don't seem to be very accommodating

It was a real disappointment for me because I was very happy with the saddle.

But it's hard to work with someone who doesn't want to work with you.

I don't know what your needs are, but N2 saddles are supposed to be very secure as well and have a wider rep range

I am an independent but also a rep for Albion coming, I'll ask if she can adjust a MacRider.

Had a friend try an N2 she was happy with it or their communication.

May also have an opportunity to at least sit in an Obrigado, I might be able to tell if it's so,etching I'd like or not.

No wonder riders complain about saddle nightmares, not not only hard to fit horses it's finding the right saddle and fitter! When some are not easy to deal with or don't know their "stuff"

You might do a search on N2 on CotH. Most people seem happy, but some have had not so great experiences.

I rode in a new N2 Cardhu a couple times, and it was really nice. Too much of a locked in feeling for me (partially due to my freaky-long femurs) but seems like a lovely saddle.
